While we’re not holding our usual big October book sale this year, we do have a stock of donated vintage books to sell this month – some are unique and antique collectors’ items, and some are sets of beautiful but less valuable books that would be great for decor – we’ll be posting previews here and on Facebook throughout the week, and let us know asap if you have any questions or if you’d like to buy any of them directly from us before they go up on Ebay next week.
First up is “The San Francisco Bay Area: A Metropolis in Perspective” by Mel Scott, published by the University of California Press in 1959. This books is a fascinating time capsule of the mid-century Bay Area trying to figure out where it was going with rapid transit and other urban planning issues. It also explores the region’s history, complete with illustrations, photos and maps. It includes the dust jacket, which has some edge-wear and sun-fading as shown in photos. The interior is clean and in good shape, unmarked except for the previous owner’s name on the front endpaper.
