We’re thrilled that best-selling (and local) author Ayelet Waldman will be at the Montclair branch Tuesday, May 19th at 6:30pm to discuss her latest novel, Love & Treasure.
Using the true history of the Hungarian Gold Train during the Second World War, she weaves a fascinating tale centering on the fate of a necklace and the people who encountered it both before and after the tragic events of the Holocaust. In doing so, she reveals a little-known, but tragic incident that few Americans are aware of. Library Journal describes it as “A sensitive and heartbreaking portrayal of love, politics and family secrets.:
Ayelet Waldman is the author of several novels, including Red Hook Road, Love and Other Impossible Pursuits, and Daughter’s Keeper. She also wrote an essay collection, Bad Mother: A Chronicle of Maternal Crimes, Minor Calamities, and Occasional Moments of Grace.
Ms. Waldman will follow her reading by signing copies of her book, which will be sold courtesy of A Great Good Place for Books.
This free program is being co-sponsored by the Friends of Montclair Branch Library and the Oakland Public Library.
