Just a reminder that not only is the library open tomorrow, Saturday May 4, but it’s also hosting 2 fun events:
Free Comic Book Day – 10:00am-5:00pm
According to the Free Comic Book Day organizers, “Comic books are an original American art form, created in the early days of the twentieth century. They are fun to read, featuring a wide range of diverse story lines that capture the imagination of the readers.” Head in to a participating library branch, including Montclair, to pick up a free comic. This event is for all ages. Limits will vary branch to branch and are only available while supplies last. The following branches are participating: 81st, Brookfield, Chavez, Dimond, Eastmont, Elmhurst, Golden Gate, Lakeview, Montclair, Piedmont, Rockridge, Temescal, West Oakland, and Main TeenZone.
Bookmaking Workshop – 1:00-2:30pm
Kids ages 9-15 are invited to learn how to make two surprising books: one made from a single sheet of paper, and one that can be read in many ways (you’ll see!). Participants will make both books and then fill them using imagination and supplies on hand. All materials provided; no experience necessary. Space is limited, so please sign up in advance at the reference desk.
