Tamim Ansary: Road Trips: Becoming an American in the Vapor Trail of the Sixties – 6:30-8:00pm
Meet Tamim Ansary, author of West of Kabul, East of New York, as he discusses his new literary memoir, Road Trips: Becoming an American in the Vapor Trail of the Sixties.

Here he describes several road trips he took in the late 1960s-early 1970s as a recent transplant to the U.S. from Afghanistan.

Ansary is also the author of Destiny Disrupted: A History of the World Through Islamic Eyes, The Widow’s Husband and Games Without Rules.

Copies of his work will be offered for sale and signing following the program courtesy of A Great Good Place for Books.

PAWS to Read with BARK Therapy Dogs – 1:30pm
New & practicing readers can read to Natasha, a certified therapy dog who loves listening to kids read. Reading to dogs can help increase kids’ reading confidence, skill and enjoyment.

Pop-Up TeenZone – 1:30-3:00pm
Come visit the Montclair Branch for a Pop-up TeenZone with crafts. Come hang out and share suggestions for serving you better! We’ll be making anime keychains to celebrate Free Comic Book Day!

Montclair Book Worms – 4:00-5:00pm
Do you like to read books and talk about them? Join the Montclair Library Book Worms and you’ll get to do just that! The Book Worms meet the first Wednesday of every month at 4pm. Snacks will be provided! Meetings last an hour. The books we read will be appropriate for grades 4-6. For our May meeting, the book we’ll discuss is TBA. FREE Comic Book Day! – 10:00am
Celebrate Free Comic Book Day at the Oakland Public Library! Kids and teens: visit your local library and receive a free comic book. Supplies are limited. Want even more comics? Check them out with your library card!
