Best books of 2012

It’s not just Santa who’s making a list at this time of year – the annual best-of lists from book reviewers and readers are starting to pour in. Whether you need gift ideas or are looking for something from the library to read on rainy days, school holidays or winter travels, we’ll be posting some suggestions this week, with selections from the Montclair collection highlighted.

First up, the New York Times with its 100 Notable Books of 2012, including:

Arcadia by Lauren Groff
Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk [e-book] by Ben Fountain
Bring up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel
Canada by Richard Ford
NW by Zadie Smith
…and many more!

The NYT also released its list of Notable Children’s Books of 2012, including:

Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore (YA)
Liar & Spy by Rebecca Stead (middle grades)
This is Not My Hat by Jon Klassen (picture books)
