“Recycled art” is one of the top search terms that brings people to the FOML website, so I know many of you are going to be excited about the 2012 Re-Create Art Contest!
Re-Create is Oakland’s annual recycled art competition and exhibition open to student artists (K-12) in Oakland schools. Students are invited to create artwork using discarded or reused materials, and compete for one of fifteen prizes. First prize is $50 — not too shabby!
The contest is sponsored by the City of Oakland Public Works Agency and produced by the Museum of Children’s Art in recognition of America Recycles Day. There are more details and an entry form here. The entry deadline is November 11, 2012.
On Wednesday, October 17 at 3:00pm, MOCHA will provide a FREE hands-on workshop at the Montclair branch where kids can create artwork from discarded materials for the contest.
