This Tuesday, February 1, at 7pm, the Montclair branch presents a free children’s show by Unique Derique, an Emmy Award winning clown who is internationally known for his unique blend of hambone (a form of body drumming), circus skills and modern day physical comedy. In honor of African American History Month, Derique will tell the story of how African-American slaves were deprived of drums and developed the traditional form of body percussion known as hambone.
