Summer events for kids

The Montclair branch schedule is packed with fun, free events for kids and families this summer. Come on in and meet our new children’s librarian, Miriam, sign up for the summer reading program and check out some of these activities:

Wednesday, June 30 – 10:30am
Crab Cove presents a “Creatures of the Bay” touch tank, including reptiles, crabs and other marine animals. All ages.

Wednesday, July 7 – 10:30am
Buki the Clown gives an all out interactive performance full of magic, laughs and fun for ages 8 and under.

Tuesday, July 13 – 7pm
With warmth and humor, Juan Sanchez performs ocean-centered songs, games and short stories in Spanish and English. All ages.

Tuesday July 20 – 7pm
Jean-Paul Valjean will amaze you with magic, juggling, comedy & one of a kind stunts. All ages.

Wednesday July 28 – 10:30am
Lawrence Hall of Science Pond Animals. Observe, handle and feed crayfish, pond animals. Ages 4-11.

Tuesday August 3 – 7pm
Meet firefighters from the Oakland Fire Department who will give you a fire truck tour and discuss safety techniques, like calling 911 and having an escape plan. All ages.

Tuesday August 17 – 7pm
Puppet Art Theater presents “3 Billy Goats Gruff,” or perhaps “Tommy’s Pirate Adventure” — ask at the Children’s Reference desk or call the library to confirm. Ages 3-10.

Plus, our preschool storytime continues Thursday mornings from 10:30-11.
