Vanessa Hua is a columnist for the San Francisco Chronicle and the author of a short story collection, Deceit and Other Possibilities, and a debut novel, A River of Stars. For two decades, she has been writing, in journalism and fiction, about Asia and the Asian diaspora.

Montclair Library Book Worms – 4:00-5:00pm
Do you like to read books and talk about them? At the Montclair Library Book Worms Book Club, we will pick out books to read and meet once a month to talk about them. Snacks will be provided! The book club is for grades 4 and up. Please contact the Children’s Librarian at (510) 482-7810 for this month’s selection. Books will be available three weeks before the meeting date.

Fall Book Sale – 10:00am-3:00pm
Help us celebrate FOML’s 10th anniversary by making this sale our most successful one ever! We’ll have lots of gently used, fiction and non-fiction books for toddlers, teens and adults (including classics and cookbooks) at bargain prices. Most hardcover books for adults priced at $1; mass-market paperbacks, 50 cents; and children’s books, 25 or 50 cents. Our Special Bag Sale for Teachers is open to pre-K through high school teachers, teacher’s aides, and school librarians. Sign in and fill a bag with 25 items from the children’s and teen’s sections for $5.
